About EthiCAL Apparel

blah

We are a student-run social enterprise that provides high-quality screen printing and free design services on sustainably, ethically-made clothing. We support entrepreneurs world-wide by lending out our profits as microloans. As a business and as a student organization on the UC Berkeley campus, we set out to create a sustainable change for those in need.

Profits from our sales are reinvested through Kiva to provide microloans for low-income individuals who do not have access to traditional banking services.  With a small amount of funding, aspiring entrepreneurs in developing countries may lift themselves out of poverty by launching and expanding their own businesses.

How Did We Start?

After spending a summer abroad in Guatemala working in microfinance, two UC Berkeley students were inspired to create a space on campus where business and social good converged. In Spring 2010, they launched the Social Entrepreneurship DeCal, a hybrid course in which students learned about various topics in the field while simultaneously running a social venture called EthiCAL Apparel. Since then, EthiCAL has grown to become the premier T-shirt service for student groups on the UC Berkeley campus.
